 A prototype for the "Little Buddha" series is completed. As she is holding a lotus bud which is a symbol of peace, I decided to call her "Peace." Look forward to more from this series.

 For my strong women's series, I wanted to portray a transgender woman. The model is a transgender from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. When I asked her what was the symbol of her gender among the Lakota, she answered, "Thunderbird" - the symbol of indomitable spirit. "I was bullied a lot and had hard time in my youth." She came out of the past resilient like the mystic bird.
I intend to work on the headdress again. I may change the flat thunderbird to 3-D like a totem? Feathers may be too destructive? Your input is appreciated. |
