The fox represents slyness in different cultures. In my work, he is snickering at the world. Despite the obvious conceit, terror is hidden inside. It is represented by a rabbit trapped in quicksand up to the chest.

Exquisitely carried out. I see the image in two different ways: the one you suggest, of course, but also that living I. Close proximity to the sly and conceited poses puts others into a situation of some precariousness. You are always potentially in harm’s way if draw their negative attention. They will see you as an obstacle to their ego needs. So you’d best stay unnoticed.

You're a deep thinker, Irene. I appreciate your comment. This sculpture will be taken to a group show in Colorado in August. I'll share your point of view with people as well. When displaying art that provokes different interpretations, it is fun to hear people's reactions.
