I have been working on a 18"-square piece that will be incorporated into Dale Lamphere's art installation at Monument Hospital. As mine will be one of many squares on his 32-foot-tall wall-hung, I went for simplicity. It expresses oneness, a vital part of any kind of healing in my opinion. Initially, I was going to place a brown circle on a cream-colored background. Mr. Lamphere suggested blue or green instead, adding "Think of the interior colors of the hospital." I'm going to take these first attempts to him and get his critique. It is difficult to make a large flat piece without cracks in pottery. You can probably see a crack on mine, though I tried to camouflage it. I am thinking of remaking the square piece out of wood or canvas.
