Presentation Improvement with Trial and Error

10/12/2021

How you present your artwork matters. That is why painters spend fortunes on frames; and sculptors, on sculpture stands. I had been avoiding this extra work, as I did not believe in spending hundreds of dollars for the cosmetic improvement. However, I am at the point I have to make my work more presentable. Here are my first attempts. You will see before and after photos. What do you think?

My friend thinks I should delegate the carpentry work to a professional. When I know exactly what I want, I hope to hire someone. For now, I am getting by with trial and error.

I feel like a jack of all trades and a master of none. Little by little, I want to delegate minor works to others in order to make more time to sculpt. Thank you as always for your support. I look forward to meeting you in my class soon!

Perhaps it would be constructive to regard the frame or pedestal or base, not as presentational but part of the structure of the piece, like time is to music or silence is to poetry.

You're talking about having a right attitude toward the additional work. By thinking it is part of my sculpture, I will not be stressed out to keep myself away from sculpting. It will bring peace to my heart. Thank you Darrel.
