For my strong women's series, I wanted to portray a transgender woman. The model is a transgender from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. When I asked her what was the symbol of her gender among the Lakota, she answered, "Thunderbird" - the symbol of indomitable spirit. "I was bullied a lot and had hard time in my youth." She came out of the past resilient like the mystic bird.
I intend to work on the headdress again. I may change the flat thunderbird to 3-D like a totem? Feathers may be too destructive? Your input is appreciated.

Defiance is her defense. She is strong and resolute. You portray humanity like nothing or no-one I've seen. Beautiful, Yoko.

Thank you Ann. I like her expression, though it looks scary. I worked on the headdress until now (1:27am). Nothing seems to work well....sigh...
